Residential Program
The Downtown Rescue Mission’s 18-month Residential Recovery Program consists of seven discipleship courses, four of which are considered undergraduate level and three that are graduate level. Each course is designed to encourage growth in the individual’s self-worth and relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ. Courses last ten weeks and cover an array of topics. Celebrate Recovery
The Downtown Rescue Mission has been using the Celebrate Recovery program for more than seven years now. Celebrate Recovery is similar to those of other twelve-step recovery programs. However, one difference is its focus on Biblical principles. We use Celebrate Recovery meetings to tackle any life issue one might encounter. During the meetings individuals learn to change their behavior from acting on instinct to applying God’s Word toward their life’s “hurts, habits and hang-ups.” Each meeting consists of twenty to twenty-five people and chips are distributed as group members achieve various milestones.

Men of Excellence | Women of Excellence
This is an introductory course designed to introduce men and women to how to become a man or woman of God and have a better lifestyle of excellence. There are two purposes for this course. First, it introduces an individual to how our Residential Recovery Program works by incorporating class meeting times and various homework opportunities, such as reading Biblical passages. Second, this course seeks to instill a sense of purpose, value and worth in men and women. This course teaches individuals that they are loved by God and because of Him, have value and worth beyond all comparison.

Work Training
Throughout the first year of our program, residents not only go to classes but also work for the DRM. It is similar to a “work for your keep” type of approach. These jobs instill a personal sense of responsibility in each resident, offer on the job training and help them prepare for work after graduating from our recovery program. Each job consists of eight hours a day and totals 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities include receptionist work, helping with food service, maintenance/grounds, laundry services, dorm clean-up and other clerical duties, security and running our on-campus Agape Shop. Each job is supervised by our staff.
Residents learn practical career and life skills through these daily jobs. Furthermore, they have an area of responsibility that creates positive self-esteem and sense of accomplishment. Residents learn to adhere to work completion standards and be accountable and punctual, teaching them healthy behaviors that will lead to successful careers after program completion.
